1. Types of steel structure buildings

The common structural systems of steel structure houses include frame structure, frame support structure, frame seismic wall panel structure, simple structure and giant frame structure. The seismic performance of steel structures depends on the selection of the structure. In the actual engineering design, a variety of factors need to be considered to optimize the plan and determine the appropriate structural system.

2. Principle of steel structure

The choice of steel structure system and the layout of the structure are related to the safety, applicability and economy of the structure. As with other building structures, multi-storey and high-rise steel structure buildings should try to adopt conventional construction schemes. When the shape of the structure is complex, the plane and the elevation are particularly irregular, the seismic protection layer should be set at the appropriate location according to the actual needs to form a batch of regular structural units that resist lateral force. Since the structural deformation of the steel structure is greater than that of the concrete structure, it is generally not appropriate to set up seismic joints. When it must be set, the width of the seismic joint should not be less than 1.5 times of the corresponding reinforced concrete structure building.

3. Applicable upper limit height and aspect ratio for steel structure buildings

The structure type and upper limit applicable height are determined by the overall height of the structure and the seismic installation strength. The aspect ratio of the structure is an important parameter that affects the overall stability and seismic performance of the structure. It directly affects the stiffness, lateral displacement and vibration shape of the structure. The height ratio refers to the ratio of the total height of the house to the smaller flat width. When the height and width are relatively large, on the one hand, the structure will produce a large horizontal displacement and PA effect, and the column will produce a large axial force due to the overturning moment. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the upper limit of the height-to-width ratio of steel structure buildings, and the limit should not be greater than a reasonable limit. When the limit is exceeded, a special investigation shall be conducted, and seismic measures shall be taken when necessary.
